1: Cats have been domestic for over 8000 years!

5: The cat was sacred in ancient Egypt and was a cult animal.
6: There are approximately 60 million cats in just the United States.

8: Most cats contain 20,000 genes with 38 chromosomes.
9: Cats have a chemosensory, or a sensory receptor, in their taste buds which makes them dislike sweet tasting foods such as berries or fruits.
10: White cats with blue eyes are more likely to be deaf than any other appearance.
11: Most cats, no matter what type (Siamese, Bengal, etc.), are the same size.
12: Cats are known to have a sixth finger, because they have a dewclaw which is a longer claw than the rest, appearing to look like an extra one.
13: A cat's heart should beat 120-140 times every minute. This assures a healthy kitty.
14: Cats are carnivores and have a hard time digesting vegetables or any plants at that matter.
15: The oldest living cat (still alive today) was born on august 3rd 1967 and is now 44 years old!
